Roadworks made me miss my daughter's leaving assembly
I want to say a huge thank you to whomsoever is in charge of the road works on Dorchester Road near Wey Valley.
Thanks to them I have now missed my four-year-old daughters leaving assembly at her pre-school in Spa Road.
This is because it has taken me over two hours to travel from Dorchester to Weymouth. I arrived in time to collect her as they were leaving much to her and my distress.
One has to wonder at the intelligence of our council.
They installed those huge islands in the middle of Dorchester Road, making it impossible - unlike on previous occasions - to have at least two lanes of flowing traffic regardless of the road works.
To then do the roadworks right on the beginning of summer makes it worse.
Are they thinking this is going to push everyone to vote for the relief road?
That may be, but the frustration that they are causing not only to myself and my daughter but to all the other motorists is likely to cause mayhem if it continues much longer.
I had to vent my anger and distress at missing what is a very special moment in my child's life and one which, unlike the roadworks, will never happen again.
Perhaps next time the highways department will think things through and make a more workable system. Sadly, it will be too late for my daughter, but then again knowing this council the same problem is probably extremely likely to happen next time as well.

We are a tourist town that relies on holiday makers so what does the council do, cause massive traffic chaos in the height of summer by deciding that Dorchester Road needs work that can't wait until after the summer.
Whoever gave the go-ahead should hang his/her head in shame and apologise to every council tax-payer and every business that needs the summer pound.
Next year we are likely to lose that money through people not wanting to go on holiday to a place so difficult to get to.
