Hey Well jacob jay is my brother and i think that this dog that didnt release the grasp until Ken Porter And Jason Hartly help my helpless brother!! our family thank these people for their great work and SAVING my brothers life thanks guys!!! :):)
i also thank the person who came to my house and told my dad!!

i also think that the dog should be put down and out of the way of harmless children

yeah its ok saying that i think people fail to say the boy was only playing with the dog the day befor and the dog has grew up with children and has been no harm to them

ok so he was playing with the dog the day before. Does this mean that it is ok for the dog to do it? Also this then shows the dog is capable of attacking people it knows.Are people expected to take the risk with their children and hope that the dog will not do it again ? As a responsible dog owner if my dog was to do this then there would only be one answer.

Well done to those brave men who stepped
in to help a neighbour. Although I am a dog lover, I do believe the safety of children should be paramount in the mind of any dog owner. My best wishes for Jacob-Jay Burt and again well done to Jason Hartley and Ken Porter.

May i add apart from the physical injuries the boy recieved there is also the emotional ones he will suffer as well.I agree with dog lover a childs saftey is paramout. Can you be sure that after this terrible incident the dog will be ok with the children it lives with. I know i would not gamble on my childrens lives

I dont know if someone punched the dog but if i saw a dog attacking a child i would not worry about hitting it or doing anything i could to stop it. If the men had not stopped it the boy could of been even worse of maybe dead. Well done to ken and jason. I am sorry but there are no excuses for this to happen.

The point is the dog attacked a child that was playing. Sorry there is no excuses.

It is a sad situation all round, but thank goodness the young lad was not more seriously hurt. I don't think there is another option but to put the dog to sleep.

how petty to start making comments like this i was a witness to this awful attack and none of the men hit this dog.

As most of you prob live up here you know who i am, I am JJ's dad. All I can say regards this comment is the dog is lucky because I had a spade in my hands before I came outside, if I knew my son was attacked by the dog at this time I would of taken it with me and used it without remorse on the dog concerned. My son is suffering terribly mentaly, even with our own dog because of this attack. There has been no comment here regards the fact that not only did it attack my son but then attacked my dog as well, I was bitten when I pulled it off my dogs neck that it was quite happily trying to rip open. Bring this dog back into a street with many younger & smaller children living here??? How safe do you think even its own familys kids are? Not very I would say.. This comment is pathetic as I said its lucky its still alive at this moment in time!!

to add to my previous comment, did anyone notice that even after attacking JJ, it still insisted on attacking my son's dog and my son himself, i believe that no other animal, or even human is safe from this dog now, as it seems to want to attack relentlesly, a lot of dogs would have backed off when some one intervined, but not this one, i ask myself why do people insist on having a dangerous breed of dog when there are small children running about, indoors or outdoors.

I am the mother of the owner of the dog (shadow) that bit JJ,,,and i have to say that this is the first chance ive had to put Shadow's side across,,,depite phoning the echo and speaking to a reporter,,,however,,
JJ was indeed playing in the garden with Shadow and other children a few days b4 all this happened,,,and my daughter Jodie has apologised profusely to both the parents and the child,,,,she even cradled JJ in her arms after the incident whilst she herself was in tears with him,,,Everybody is sorry about the incident and we all praise the men that helped JJ,,,HOWEVER,,,the father DID punch Shadow in the head when my daughter had him on the lead,directly after the incident,,,and Shadow only attacked his dog after it flew out of the house and tried to attack him,,,now what else i find EXTREMELY strange is the fact that there are FOUR CCTV's in that street,,,,all pointing at where it happened,,,but miracously,,not ONE of them were on that day,,,i find this VERY hard to believe as one of the camera's are on the parents house,,,the family have also been informed from reliable dog authority that a Japanese Akita will NOT attack a human being for no good reason,,,,which also makes me think that someone saw something and is with holding it,,Should u need anymore information,,i'm sure my daughter Jodie would be only too happy to relay HER side of the event,,,Shadow is still a puppy himself,,being brought up with my 2 grand children ince they were both 1 and 2 yrs old,,,,and I feel it ha been very unfair for him to be held for so long by the police in kennels,,and is serving absolutely no purpose whatsoever apart from distresing his family and himself,,,might I also add that my daughter was told by the parents of JJ ,,after my daughter had been over to the house and went in and spoke with JJ's mother that they were NOT pressing any charges against her or the dog,,,wether this has changed now,,i'm unsure of at the present time,,,,Shadow is NOT a crazed killer,,,he's a family's puppy,,be he ever so big,,,he cant help being a big dog,,,would that just ONE of those FOUR CCTV's been switched on huh,,,and i believe at least ONE was!!

Furthermore i would like to say that Jodie and her family have the support and friendhip of MOST of the streets residents and that they would wish to see her family and her dog reunited,,as ive said b4,,i'm Jodie's mother and my name is Nina Rendell,,please do not hesitate to contact us should u require any more information,,,thank you!

Personaly I don't care what you wish to put here to make it look like shadow is an angel... The fact is shadow attacked my son as he was making his way up the road after shadow growled at all the kids down the bottom of the road.

Regardless of JJ playing in the garden with shadow a few days or even if he was playing a few mins before the attack, shadow is capable of extream damage to a person..

This was put to the echo to thank both Jason and Ken publicaly for saving my sons life not to start a war or cause problems in the close.

I stand by what i said before as I am sure any parent would do the same with thier own child in this situation, I am just thankfull that Jason and Ken got there when they did as this is the only reason my son was not in a much worse condition.

Just for people who are concerned JJ has now had his dressings removed to allow the wounds to finish healing after nearly a month of continuos dressing changes daily and nurse appointments twice weekly.

Whilst I understand that u dont care what I type here,,I have no wish to enter into a slanging match,,i'm merely telling the facts as the are,,Shadow IS still a puppy and he HAS been brought up with my grand children since he was 5 or 6 weeks old and they were 2 and 1 respectively,,thankf
ully the children dont hold the same grudges and, JJ is still playing with my grandson, Levi,on Levi's bike and go-cart in the street etc,,and even though u now refuse to speak to my daughter or her family,,,she wishes your family nothing but the best and is pleased to see that JJ has overcome his problems with other dogs since he has been observed calling a neighbours dog to him on different occassions,,thats very nice to see.Once again,,every good wish is extended to you and your family and hopefully all hostilities will now cease.
