AN AFTERNOON of spooky fun is being lined up for youngsters by a Portland Community group.

Revive Portland is holding the Halloween extravaganza at Fancy’s Farm and the High Angle Battery tunnels. The group is inviting the whole family to don Halloween costumes and enjoy the excitement tomorrow. Saturday October 27. Project co- ordinator Yvonne Beven said: “There will be Halloween themed games and activities throughout the afternoon, including a spooky treasure hunt, story telling and face painting.

“The tunnels will be decorated with lanterns and other ghoulish surprises.

“The animals at Fancy’s Farm will be there to meet visitors and there will be a star appearance by record-breaking Nina, Europe’s biggest eagle owl.”

Activities begin at 3pm and continue until 7pm. Entry is free. The event is funded by the Synergy Housing group.

It has also been supported by Wild about Weymouth and Portland, whose aim is to encourage local people and visitors to discover, enjoy and help conserve the natural environment of the borough.

Yvonne added: “There’s no better way to celebrate Halloween than to celebrate it outdoors in a safe and family-friendly environment.

“Fancy’s Farm and the ghost tunnels is the perfect setting and our free event will give parents a chance to come along without having to worry about the cost.”

This year’s event, the fourth of its kind, is being run as part of Make a Difference Day, which is the country’s biggest day of volunteering.

It provides opportunities for thousands of people to volunteer in activities across the country.

Yvonne said: “We are so grateful to everyone who volunteers to make community events like this happen.”

Revive Portland is an Olympic inspired project run by the community for the community.
