12:00pm Sunday 20th January 2013 in Local News
A NEW singing group for those with or concerned about memory loss will be launched next week.
The new Sing On! Group run by Age UK will start next Thursday in Chickerell’s Willowbed Hall.
Sing On! is a Melodies for Memories session that will run every fortnight from 10.30am to noon at a cost of £2.50 per person. Tea, coffee and cake are included. The group activities are designed to stimulate cognitive skills as well as being a fun activity.
Hilary Foggo will be leading the sessions, she said: “The sessions are enjoyable, empowering, friendly and uplifting, giving many people a much-needed boost in confidence.
“People do not have to be singers to participate.”
The Sing On! Sessions will also feature singing games and there will be percussion instruments for people to use to accompany the singing.
If you would be interested in volunteering for the sessions or getting involved call Hilary Foggo at Age UK Dorchester on 01305 269444 or 07891 351766. If transport is a problem, call Weymouth Community Transport on 01305 783999.
