DO YOU make Dorset’s greatest chilli con carne?

Amateur Dorset chilli chefs who believe they can cook the best dish now have an opportunity to see how their favourite recipe compares with the best in the UK at the Great Dorset Chilli Festival.

In association with the UK Chilli Cook Off the festival will be hosting the Dorset heat of the 2013 Chilli Cook Off Championships.

The festival will be held on Saturday August 3 and Sunday August 4 in the grounds of St Giles House, Wimborne St Giles.

Teams of keen chilli fans will have four hours to prepare and cook from scratch one gallon of chilli con carne which will then be judged by an expert panel.

The organisers have said it will not necessarily be the hottest chilli that takes the prize and the judges will be looking for the best appearance, aroma, consistency, taste and aftertaste.

The winning team will receive a cash prize of £250 and entry into the UK final of the 2013 UK Chilli Cook-off Championships, where they will be in with a chance of flying to Las Vegas to represent the UK in the World Food Championships.
