A SILVER chocolate pot is expected to go for a sweet sum when it goes under the hammer later this month.

The Queen Anne silver pot was made by Thomas Corbet in 1703 and was sold at a London auction in the 1920s for only £200.

Auctioneer Deborah Doyle from Duke’s Auction House in Dorchester said: “This silver chocolate pot is in good condition considering its age of just over 300 years.

“The pot is of fine workmanship – chocolate pots of this quality rarely come on to the open market.

“This one has been in a private collection for many years.

“It was at one time on loan to the South Kensington Museum and exhibited among others.”

The pot will go for sale in the next fine art and silver auction on November 27 and 28.
