WORK at a railway level crossing will be extended by a further fortnight, it has been announced.
Traffic on the B3390 has been diverted because of maintenance work at the Moreton crossing.
The work was due to finish today but Network Rail says due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’ the work will be extended by a further 14 days.
A spokesman said ‘complications’ uncovered during the project have meant additional time is needed to complete the work.
Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout but the current diversion for vehicles will remain in place until Monday, February 6.
The Network Rail spokesman added: “We apologise for any inconvenience the extension to this work may cause to local people and businesses and we will be writing to them to explain what is happening and why. Network Rail will continue to work closely with the local authority to minimise disruption.”
