A WOMAN was seriously injured at a pedestrian crossing on the main Weymouth to Waterloo train line today.
South West Trains initially said he woman had died but have since released a statement saying she was seriously injured.
It is believed she was crossing the line with her son when she was struck by the train.
A spokesman for South West Trains said: “Services are currently being disrupted following an incident which occurred at around 13.55 in which a person was hit by a train at a foot crossing near Wool.
"As a result of the incident, which involved the 11.35 South West Trains service from London Waterloo to Weymouth, no trains are currently able to run between Dorchester South and Wareham.
“A bus replacement service has been put in place for passengers travelling between those locations. Train services are still able to operate between Weymouth and Dorchester South and between Wareham and London Waterloo.
"Services will resume as soon as the emergency services indicate that the line can re-open."
