Two children cut free from car after crash in Bridport

TWO children had to be cut out of a car after a crash in Bridport.
The youngsters aged nine and 11, were cut free as a precaution after the black Ford Fiesta they were travelling in hit a wall in West Bay Road.
The incident happened just after 2pm yesterday.
Both children were taken to Dorset County Hospital, Dorchester, with minor injuries. The car they were travelling in is registered to a Somerset motorist.
Bank Holiday traffic was affected as the road was closed for 40 minutes from the Crown Roundabout to the end of West Bay Road while Dorset Fire and Rescue Service worked at the scene.
A spokesman for the fire service said that firefighters attended the incident within nine minutes.
He added: “Two retained crews from Bridport attended the incident and were there within nine minutes.
“Fire crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to release two casualties aged nine and 11 who were in one vehicle.
“Both of them were taken to hospital.”
A spokesman for Dorset Police described the children’s injuries as ‘minor’.
He said: “Two children were in the vehicle and were cut from it as a precaution.”
“It was a minor injury collision. The injured parties were taken to hospital.”
Firefighters remained on scene until 3.05pm making the area and the vehicles safe.
