Dorset woman to run her first marathon for coeliac charity
3:30pm Tuesday 10th April 2012 in Local News
A DORSET woman is preparing to run in this year’s London Marathon on April 22.
Beth Burles, 34, from East Stour, near Gillingham, is running her first marathon to raise funds for Coeliac UK, the national charity for people with coeliac disease.
Her daughter was diagnosed six years ago and Beth wants to raise cash and awareness.
Coeliac disease is an autoimmune disease caused by intolerance to gluten. One in 100 people in the UK have the disease but only 10-15 per cent of those have been diagnosed.
To raise awareness, Coeliac UK is holding a campaign called the Gluten-Free Challenge, asking the nation to do at least one thing gluten-free between May 14-20.
