Firefighters tackle spate of arson attacks overnight

Dozens of firefighters tackled three blazes across the area through the night.

Arsonists torched two cars in Weymouth and a tractor near Tolpuddle, Dorchester.

One car was destroyed while the other and the tractor left severely damaged.

Crews were called at 10.30pm last night to a slip road on the A35 where an abandoned tractor was found to be well alight.

Firefighters tackled a car fire on Lorton Lane at 1.20am and another on Littlemead in Weymouth half an hour later.

Investigations into the three blazes will continue.

A spokesman for Dorset Fire and Rescue said all fires are thought to be deliberate.
