And what has not being local got to do with it. If I wanted to go to Glastonbury do I have to live within a certain postcode? Or any concert/festival/fre
e concert? This is a holiday resort - or hadnt you noticed!

The beach site was hidden behind security fencing with screening obscuring the view. Why? It was a free event with limited 'tickets' to get on the beach. For all those locals who went, enduring the weather, to embrace the Olympics and Cultural Olympiad it was a lottery whether you could get a view. Also with the weather warnings, strong winds and rain, was it sensible to place screens on the barriers which were in danger of blowing the screens over onto the crowds. At around 19.30 the screens were being removed for safety sakes leaving hundreds of cable ties littering the esplanade. Do the people who organise these things really think things through. But well done the gigs.

The torch could be viewed FOR FREE from any number of vantage points across the town. The idea that barriers prevented you viewing it is ridiculous.
