Weymouth's Olympic beach concert will go ahead tonight

THE Olympic Torch Relay evening celebration due to be held on Weymouth Beach will go ahead.

Weymouth and Portland Borough Council advises people attending tonight to dress for wet weather as rain is forecast.

Visitors are also urged to make use of the park and ride site at Mount Pleasant.

The gates to the beach site open at 4pm with the show expected to begin from 5.30pm.

Entertainment includes performances from rapper Wretch 32 and dance act Twist and Pulse.

Whole thing stinks. Some places 'selling' them (or you have to enter their fundraiser??) so much for free and for anyone. Tough that the phone lines didn't open till 9, but the remaining 700 went 'on sale' at 8!! Brilliant. Thing is, I suspect alot of the 'lucky' ones won't even go coz they'll get wet.

Suggest you do then.

And what has not being local got to do with it. If I wanted to go to Glastonbury do I have to live within a certain postcode? Or any concert/festival/fre
e concert? This is a holiday resort - or hadnt you noticed!

Went for early dinner at Prezzo and then decided to visit prom to view the Gigs bring the torch in.
The beach site was hidden behind security fencing with screening obscuring the view. Why? It was a free event with limited 'tickets' to get on the beach. For all those locals who went, enduring the weather, to embrace the Olympics and Cultural Olympiad it was a lottery whether you could get a view. Also with the weather warnings, strong winds and rain, was it sensible to place screens on the barriers which were in danger of blowing the screens over onto the crowds. At around 19.30 the screens were being removed for safety sakes leaving hundreds of cable ties littering the esplanade. Do the people who organise these things really think things through. But well done the gigs.

Oh my life, what are people on!
The torch could be viewed FOR FREE from any number of vantage points across the town. The idea that barriers prevented you viewing it is ridiculous.

It was a brilliant event, watched by thousands, a great night for Weymouth and Portland, if you have no interest in it, it's best to get your facts right or you just sound like a bitter twisted idiot.

Certainly not - you have different surnames - but vanity is definitely an issue!
