Dorchester conference on policing and voluntary groups
12:30pm Tuesday 21st August 2012 in Local News
A CONFERENCE in Dorchester will outline the changes that will affect voluntary and community groups this year.
The people of Dorset are being given the opportunity later this year to elect a Police and Crime Commissioner who will replace the Dorset Police Authority .
The commissioner will be responsible for setting local community safety priorities and arranging for services to address them.
Existing funding and commissioning structures for voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations working in community safety will change significantly.
Organisations that address equality and diversity and which seek to reduce crime and reoffending, antisocial behaviour, substance misuse, violence against women and girls and youth crime are invited to attend the conference which will take place at the Dorford Centre on September 12.
This will be ahead of the voting which will be on Thursday, November 15.
The conference will bring together the key local public sector partners to give information about the transition to the new arrangements.
