DEVELOPERS behind an 85-home proposal for Crossways will circulate consultation papers from today.

As reported in yesterday's Echo, Nexus Planning on behalf of Woodsford Farms, are seeking the views of residents on proposals for development on land to the west of Frome Valley Road.

Principal planner Jonathan Locke has said-

• The application is due to be submitted for consideration by West Dorset District Council in June following the public consultation;

• The preparation of the application includes a number of assessments which includes the availability of current services and infrastructure to serve the proposals;

• Amenities include a significant Suitable Accessible Natural Green Space (SANGS) to relieve pressure on the nearby Special Protection Area (SPA).

Jonathan added: "This will be significant at over six hectares of space providing naturalistic walking areas for local residents in an attractive environment.

"The development would also include play areas. The SANGS would also provide significant habitat enhancement to the benefit of local wildlife.

"As the consultation leaflet will inform, the proposals are for up to 85 residential dwellings with up to 35 per cent affordable housing provision, and will be in outline form only. This means that the principle for the development is being sought from the council and specific details would be reserved for future consideration.

The consultation leaflet provides the local residents with the opportunity to provide their comments on the proposals prior to submission to the Council. Of course, the council will conduct their own consultation exercise once the outline planning application is received by them. "
