Fire safety will be on the agenda at the next meeting of the Carers Moving Forward (CMF) group on Monday, July 20.

Guest speaker will be Rosemary Locock, education officer at Dorset Fire and Rescue Service.

The meeting will be held at Age UK, Rowan Cottage, 4 Prince of Wales Road, DT1 1PQ from 10am to noon. Everyone is welcome. It will be followed on Friday July 24 by an optional tour of the Weymouth Fire Station.

CMF has members from Dorchester, Weymouth and surrounding areas and offers friendship and support to people whose loved-ones have had to go into residential care as an emergency, for respite or permanently, as well as those who have been bereaved recently.

Founder Enid Evans said: ‘ We aim to provide friendship and information to people at what can be a traumatic time in their lives, although we are not a counselling service.

‘We organise a range of speakers, some talking on subjects of particular relevance to carers but sometimes, like our speaker from the fire service, on those that are of a more general interest.

‘Members can stay for a light lunch if they wish and we also organise a monthly Sunday lunch outing and a trip somewhere to give them an opportunity to relax and enjoy themselves.’
