FIRST Wessex has launched a new app to accompany a flagship bus service in Dorset.
The Jurassic Coaster app provides text and audio commentary to accompany First Wessex's X53 Jurassic Coaster service that runs along the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.
The bus route is known for being one of the most picturesque bus routes in the UK.
The X53 runs between Poole and Exeter via Weymouth, Bridport and Lyme Regis. The new app enables the user to research the numerous tourist destinations along the route before their journey.
The app can also be used to provide a live commentary which is triggered by GPS co-ordinates.
Contents of the app will be continuously updated to include special offers to the attractions on production of a valid bus ticket.
The launch of the app follows the company's creation of a short film about the bus service.
A spokesman for First UK Bus said: "We have launched the app after we made a short film about the X53 Jurassic Coaster route which we believe is one of the most beautiful bus routes in the country.
"The films are purely to promote and raise awareness of the X53 being a great way to travel along the Jurassic Coast."
The app is now available to download via either the Google or Apple app stores.
