ARE you ready for the Dorchester Dash?

The popular triathlon is returning tomorrow (SUN30) for the third year running.

Consisting of a 400m swim, a 24km bike course and a 5km run, the route takes in some of the most scenic views in Dorset.

Competitors will cycle out of Dorchester through Poundbury and up to the summit of the Hardy Monument. The running route then goes via the Iron Age hill fort, Maiden Castle, which dates back to 4,000BC.

A spokesperson for the Dorchester Sports Centre, which organises the event, said: “Now in its third year the Dorchester “Dash” Triathlon is a novice friendly event but it inspires all those taking part whatever their ability because of the unique route which offers competitors breathtaking views through a landscape with a fascinating and ancient past.”

The leisure centre, which is on the Thomas Hardye School site, will offer competitors refreshments, use of the swimming pool, changing rooms, toilets and showers on the day.

There’s still time to get involved with entry fees at £35 for BTF affiliated and 1610 members and £40 for unaffiliated and non-members. You can also enter as a relay team, which costs £50.

All competitors who finish the route will receive medals and there will be age group prizes.

The event starts at 8am.
