A FAMILY fundraiser in support of a little boy with a rare condition raised more than £1,200.

A feast of curries was accompanied by a disco, karaoke, a raffle and plenty of dancing at Puddletown Village Hall to raise funds for the CDLS (Cornelia de Lange Syndrome) Foundation.

The night was a show of support for local two-year-old Reuben Miah, who suffers from the condition and has been in and out of hospital much of his young life.

The family was supported by dad Khalique's employers Damory Coaches, who supplied a coach to transport its staff and one of his colleagues volunteered to drive.

Damory also donated a raffle prize and there was a show of support from Sunninghill School, where Reuben's siblings attend, who had a table of 18 on the night.

Mum Angela said: "The support they give our family and particularly our children is incredible, it truly is amazing and has helped us through some very difficult times."

Local butcher Mike Thomson donated a box of chicken and the disco was also provided free of charge.

The local pub in Puddletown, The Blue Vinny, also showed its support as did the Spice Centre in Dorchester.

Angela added: "Jesters in Dorchester made a generous donation and CDLS Foundation provided us with some fab leaflets which we were able to pass out."

She said that the publicity helped raised awareness for CDLS as well as raising £1,247 and the final thank you was to her husband Khalique who catered for the whole event as well as Reubens brothers and sister who also pitched in.

Angela said: "It was a real family effort with Khalid directing traffic to the additional car park, washing up and generally running around helping everyone, Nikita and Aaron also helped with various jobs including setting up and laying all the tables and helping clear up and Reuben sat in his chair laughing and smiling and tapping along (not always in time) with the music!"

Angela said that a number of people who could not make the night also made donations to help boost the fundraising total.
