JEWELLERY and foreign currency were stolen in a raid on a Dorchester home.

Police said it is believed the burglars used tools from the victim's own shed to force open a read door at the house in Treves Road.

The incident happened between Tuesday, May 10 and Thursday, May 12.

A large quantity of jewellery, $3,000 Australian dollars and an amount of Euros was stolen.

The jewellery included a number of women’s silver Gucci and Tissot watches, men and women’s Citizen watches and gold necklaces.

Detective Constable Andy Marsh, of Weymouth CID, said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area of Treves Road between the relevant times to please call me on 101.

“I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who has jewellery offered to them for sale locally in unusual circumstances.

“We are making enquiries with businesses to see if someone has tried to exchange a large amount of Australian dollars in recent days. If you have any information, please contact Dorset Police.

“Finally, I would like to remind residents to ensure their property is left secure, including sheds, garages and outbuildings. Please don’t make it easy for burglars to target your home.”
