A BUSY summer beckons for Dorchester Youth Theatre.

On Thursday, June 30 and Friday, July 1, the intermediate and junior companies will perform a double bill - Spellbound, followed by Thunderwar at the Corn Exchange in Dorchester.

Spellbound by Alison Chaplin, is a fairy tale with attitude and is brought to the stage by DYT Juniors! Goblins Chaos and Mayhem try to spice things up in fairyland, but things don't quite go to plan.

Thunderwar is a new comedy by Adrian Flynn, winner of the W.H. Smith Plays for Children Award. It’s about making friends, coping with bullies of all ages and the right temperature to bake apple turnovers in the middle of a battle. Doors open at 6pm and the show starts at 6.30pm.

Two weeks later at 7.30pm on July 14 and 15, the DYT performance company will be bringing Girls Like That to the stage, again at the Corn Exchange.

Evan Placey's urgent and explosive new play explores the pressures on young people today in the wake of advancing technology.

Mid August brings the DYT annual summer arts project Combined Arts Week, where more than 40 young people create a show in a week - places are still available, visit the website dorchyouththeatre.co.uk for details on how to take part.

Combined Arts Week will be held between Monday August 22 and Saturday August 27. Performances will be on Friday August 26 and Saturday August 27.

Information on all the above can be found at www.dorchyouththeatre.co.uk and tickets for all performances are available from Dorchester Arts Box Office.
