NATIONALLY acclaimed seven-piece gypsy folk-rock band Holy Moly & The Crackers are rolling in to Dorset this coming weekend with their infectious brand of lively music and tall tales.

The gig is part of the Artsreach summer programme of events in the county.

This seven-piece ‘gypsy folknroll’ group from Newcastle have been making an impact on both the national and international live music scene since their debut album release in 2012, touring throughout the UK and appearing at no less than 27 festivals in 2016 including Glastonbury, Larmer Tree and Purbeck Valley Folk. This summer they are already confirmed to support percussive guitar legend Newton Faulkner are embarking on a large UK album tour.

Influenced by an eclectic range of music, Holy Moly plays an exciting and visceral blend of rock, pop, folk, blues, Balkan, klezmer, ska and reggae. Tracks from their debut album and subsequent EPs have been played by many, including BBC Introducing and leading music critic Mike Harding, and the release of their much anticipated new album sees them touring venues up and down the country.

Conrad Bird of Holy Moly said “We throw a whole load of genres into the mix. We describe ourselves as “gypsy folk rock”, but that’s a very loose term. And we’re changing and developing all the time. There’s a big beat; we like to make people dance. But, at the same time, the songs are built around narrative - I guess that’s why we’d class ourselves as a folk band, we like to tell stories”
