A COMMUNITY jumble sale will be held in Dorchester this weekend.

Sunday marks the third Jumble Trail in Monmouth Road and the surrounding roads.

Residents will be selling a host of items from toys to jewellery, books to clothes, furniture, cakes, plants, DIY tools and lots more.

The previous two years have been a massive success and organiser, Ellie Goodridge, said it would be an even bigger event this year.

Last year there were nearly 70 stalls and 75 have already booked for this year. Ellie said: "It will be the biggest one we have done."

Ellie, who lives on Monmouth Road, said: "I set the first sale up two years ago. I heard about it from a friend who had been to Brighton and seen a jumble sale in action.

"The idea of having the sale just outside your house is really appealing to me and to our area. It's just a real community event.

"It is mainly held in Monmouth Road but other roads joining it join in too.

"It's also a great way to meet our neighbours, as we found out in our first year.

"People pay £2 to book their stall and that goes to funding flyers. I produce a map online that has pins on to where all the stalls are.

"This year we have 75 stalls booked.

"We sell lots of items but last year one lady sold her car, she just put a sign on it and sold it. We couldn't believe it.

"I love jumble sales and I even bought a door from my neighbour one year, you can pick up anything."

Residents are therefore being encouraged to pop down to the Jumble Trail on Sunday, May 14 between 10am and 2pm and pick up a bargain.
