ONE of the UK's top theatre schools is taking a literary classic on tour to Dorset.

Bristol Old Vic Theatre School presents Under Milk Wood, which is touring to Frampton and Sturminster Newton.

Set in the fictitious fishing village of Llareggub, Dylan Thomas’s 24 hour peek into the lives and loves of the likes of Captain Cat, Polly Garter and Willy Nilly has enthralled its audiences since its debut stage performance.

The talented students of Bristol Old Vic Theatre school will bring the production to life on a special West Country tour, visiting Dorset for two nights through Artsreach, the county's arts charity.

Described as ‘a play for voices’, Under Milk Wood is one of Dylan Thomas's best-known works. Behind a cast populated by outrageous drunkards, prostitutes, unrequited lovers, bigamists and ghosts, are some of the finest examples of Thomas’ unique literary style.

Opened in 1946 by Laurence Olivier, the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School has grown a reputation for attracting the very best in young acting talent and, as such, has some notable alumni to its name including Daniel Day Lewis, Greta Scacchi, Peter O’Toole, Olivia Colman and many more.

With its canvas of bawdy humour, nonsense gossip, feuds, affairs, fights, frauds and practical jokes, Under Milk Wood pulses with the vitality and relish of real life characters re-living their dreams and desires. Expect a theatrical experience of the highest quality as they perform in Frampton near Dorchester on Saturday June 24 (01300 320347) and at Sturminster Newton Exchange on Sunday June 25 (01258 475137).
