TEENAGERS who are interested in performing arts are invited to take part in a one day festival.

The Youth Theatre Festival, which is called Future Stage, will take place at the Corn Exchange, Dorchester, on Thursday July 27.

It has been organised by the West Dorset Youth Theatre Consortium, which comprises of youth theatres and practitioners from across West Dorset.

This opportunity is for 13 to 18-year-olds who are interested in performing, developing professional skills or a career within theatre and features an impressive selection of workshops!

Megan Dunford, participation officer at Dorchester Arts, is helping to organise the event.

She said: "We are so pleased to be running this event - the opportunity for the young performers is world class and this shows in the level of workshops we have on.

"We would especially like to thank West Dorset District Council, Dorset Town Council and Battens Charitable Trust for all their support towards this event - we wouldn't have been able to put it on without them!"

The programme for the day will include Lewis Penfold running a workshop in Stage Combat - a member of the British Academy of Dramatic Combat, Lewis is an examiner for students of stage combat.

Aileen Gonsalves is running a workshop in devising - with experience in film, theatre, television and radio to name but a few, Aileen has written and directed for the Royal Shakespeare Company and was Head of Acting for the last four years at Arts Educational Schools London. Jo Simons will run a workshop in Improvisation. She trained at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, and her acting roles include both theatre and television for repertory theatres, BBC and ITV.
