A DOUBLE bill of two very different plays will be performed tonight and tomorrow by Dorchester Youth Theatre.

The junior and intermediate members are putting on two very different plays - Charlotte Holmes: Future Detective is being performed by the junior company. Charlotte is a 23rd century descendent of Sherlock and very eager to do some detective work.

Her opportunity arises when on a school trip to a museum, it is discovered that a very famous painting has been stolen.

Director Jo Simons said: "The young actors have been so committed to their production, learning lines quickly and really working well together. I'm very proud of them."

A contrasting piece of theatre is being performed by the intermediate company, in Michael Morpurgo's I Believe in Unicorns, adapted for the stage by Danyah Miller and Dani Parr.

Eight-year-old Tomas hates school, books and stories. But his world in turned upside down the day he meets the Unicorn lady when he is forced to visit the library. He listens to magical tales that draw him in, making themselves part of him and changing the course of his life forever, making him believe in unicorns.

Jo said she is delighted with the cast's hard work and commitment.

"I challenged the intermediates with a different way of working this year, with a lot of their ideas involved in devising the scenes, and it has certainly paid off.' By the end of this story, you will believe in unicorns too."
