FIND out more about joining a male voice choir at an invitation evening on Wednesday. (28)

The very popular Casterbridge Male Voice Choir wants men of any age who enjoy singing to join them.

There are no auditions and the invitation evening is for men to see if they enjoy it and they can either join in or just listen. The choir urgently needs more tenors.

Joe Mercer, of the choir, said: "We are all very keen amateur singers. We sing a wide repertoire of songs ranging from show songs, swing and popular male voice choir songs."

The choir is celebrating its 75th anniversary and has made many thousands of pounds over the years for charity.

The Casterbridge Male Voice Choir has several concerts a year throughout Dorset and further afield and has a return invitation to visit Normandy next spring by the French choir, Choral L'echo de Trun, who came to Dorchester in May. The joint concert was held in the United Church and attracted a full house.

Wives and partners of members of the choir are always welcome on social evenings and on trips away.

The choir's new musical director is Julia McFarlane and their accompanist is Emily Clark.
