The very popular Love Parks event returns to the Borough Gardens in Dorchester next week.

It's one for all the family, with youngsters able to enjoy the Punch and Judy show, donkey rides and Little Peeps Parties.

Also set to provide entertainment are re-enactment society the Wessex Invaders and Settlers Empire who will returning for their second year.

The well-known and much-loved Mill Street Jazz Band will also be returning to the county town to perform in the bandstand.

And also confirmed as attending are Hayley's Hedgehog Rescue and Dorchester Arts.

The kiosk will be open for refreshments as usual, Wild4Food will be returning with their selection of crepes and hotdogs and new to this year will be Mad Mitch Whippy Icecream.

There will be birdbox making, supervised by the town council outdoor services team, using wood kindly supplied by Dorchester Timber and the frames made up by the Dorchester Men’s Shed, who will also be in attendance.

Mayor of Dorchester, Cllr Susie Hosford, who will be raising the Green Flag during the day, said: "We hope that lots of people will be able to join us for this very special celebration in the beautiful setting of Dorchester's Borough Gardens.

"Love Parks Day is a fantastic family friendly event with lots of special activities for everyone to enjoy in addition to all that our wonderful gardens have to offer.

"I shall be there with my grandchildren and we are looking forward to joining in with all the fun."

The event will be a celebration of the Borough Gardens and will run from 10.30am until 3.30pm on Wednesday, July 26.

It is just one of the many events organised at the Borough Gardens and at Maumbury Rings this summer.

The Love Parks event will be followed by The Warm Festival, which has been organised by the Steve Charles Help a Friend Fund and will be held in the gardens on Sunday, July 30 from 12pm.
