FOR those who love to cook, or just love to enjoy a good meal, a new hands-on cookery class is heading to one of Dorset’s beauty spots.

Organic vegetable delivery business Riverford has teamed up with the Dorset Wildlife Trust (DWT) to launch vegetable cookery classes at DWT’s Kingcombe Centre this month.

Gareth and Gill Rossiter, founders of Riverford, are inviting people to join their ‘master veg’ lunchtime cooking class which includes a two-hour hands-on course using the best of the seasonal produce grown on Riverford’s farms.

The course will be followed by a meal where cooks can enjoy the food they have whipped up, with a glass of something refreshing.

Riverford will also be donating to DWT for every third delivery of a veg box to their customers.

Gareth and Gill are now on a mission to educate the county in their favourite subject, veg.

Gill said: “We’re total veg nerds; cut us open and we bleed carrots.

“We are genuinely excited to be hosting these classes for the local community. It’s a fantastic way to learn some essential veg prep skills, and see how to cook up beautiful seasonal veg dishes, in a really friendly atmosphere.”

Sally Welbourn, DWT’s communications officer, said: “We’re very pleased to provide a venue at the Kingcombe Centre for this event; visitors will be surrounded with stunning meadows and Kingcombe’s very own veg patch as they prepare their food so there’s plenty of inspiration.

“This is a great partnership as both DWT and Riverford are committed to working with nature to get the best gains for the health of wildlife and people.”

The classes will be held on Monday, July 31, and will cost £40 per person. This includes the two-hour class, lunch with a drink, cook book and the first delivery of a medium sized veg box.
