An emotional and thought-provoking play has been transformed into a film, in just five days.

Dorchester actress and writer, Sue Wylie, was diagnosed with Parkinson's six years ago and quickly discovered very little was known about the condition.

This spurred Sue on to create a play called Kinetics, which is based on her own experience and follows the relationship between a middle-aged woman and a bright but bored student who is struggling with ADHD and finds release in free running.

The play was an overwhelming success and toured to great critical acclaim in autumn 2016.

But Sue didn't stop there, she wanted to reach a wider audience and use her play as a teaching resource for a wide range of health professionals as well as the general public.

A fundraising campaign was launched earlier this year and thanks to the generosity of the public, more than £30,000 was raised.

Sue said: "Filming Kinetics was amazing. It was done in five days, with a lot of hard work. I've seen a rough draft of it and it is looking really good. We are aiming to premier the film in early January in Dorchester and the Plaza Cinema has kindly offered us their venue.

"We were originally thinking of having one screening but now we are working on two because the play did so well and we think there will be a lot of people interested in seeing how it works as a film.

"There was a point when I didn't think we were going to reach our target but then thousands more came in - the public were so generous, it was overwhelming.

"The filming company was based in Bristol so we did a lot of filming there but we also filmed in Queen's College in Taunton who allowed us to even film on their rooftop."

Sue, who has stared in a number of television series, such as The Bill and Casualty, extended her thanks to Tom Martin and Band Films, the crew and to Charlotte Buchan from Blue Ochre Design who built the impressive and realistic set.

She added that she hopes the film will help helping sufferers come to terms with and cope psychologically with their condition.
