Donations have been flooding in to Dorchester Arts as it prepares for a fundraising fashion sale - including a valuable donation all the way from Paris.

Dorchester Arts' High End to High Street event will be held at the Corn Exchange and staff have been overwhelmed with the donations coming in.

But staff were amazed when one Dorchester resident offered a collection of couture outfits, bags and shoes, many unworn and all in beautiful condition - the only problem being that the collection was in Paris and only available for a limited time.

Undeterred, a Dorchester Arts volunteer offered to pay for a courier, who was duly dispatched across the Channel to the City of Love, driving through the night to ensure that the deadline was met.

The collection is now being held in a secret location until the big day, when it will form part of the sale of donated clothes and accessories

Jacky Thorne, fundraising manager at Dorchester Arts said: ‘From couture to some of our best-loved high street stores, High End to High Street offers clothes at prices for every pocket.

"As well as the amazing Paris collection, there are coats and jackets, ball gowns and prom dresses, coats, jackets and party outfits. "Prices start at £3, and end at – well, make us an offer!"

Jacky added that the event is a great pre-Christmas opportunity to seek out new labels, clothes and accessories at affordable prices.

High End to High Street takes place on Sunday, November 19.

Doors open at 3pm.

Entry costs £5 and will include tea and cake.
