A touching tribute will be made in memory of a much-loved former Echo photographer.

A bench on Cornhill in Dorchester will be named after James Philips, better known as Jim, who died in June aged 96.

Organised by those who were close to James, the event will welcome all those who knew and loved the man who many called 'Mr P'. Town crier Alistair Chisholm will read a poem and prayers will be said.

Val Beavis, who has helped to organise the event with a group of friends, said: "We will have lemon cake and cider as that's what James loved. All are welcome."

The bench dedication will take place today (9) at 10.30am on Cornhill, Dorchester, outside the British Heart Foundation charity shop.
