A meeting will be held in Dorchester next week to assist businesses in the county town and across west Dorset with their digital skills.

Dorset Council's Partnership is collaborating with Google Digital Garage to offer the free business event.

A spokesman for the Dorset Council's Partnership said: "Boosting your digital skills will help you to understand your customers purchasing journey, know their habits and their attitudes, and how best to reach them. The digital landscape constantly changes and evolves, so why not come and learn from industry professionals who have their finger firmly on the digital pulse?"

The digital skills day will include three hour-long workshops on 'building a digital marketing plan', 'researching new customers online' and having a 'social media strategy'.

Additionally, the council's economic regeneration team will be on hand to answer any questions you may have about business in Dorset. The team can advise on grants, offer advice on planning or financial queries or point people in the direction of their partner agencies that may be able to support them and their business.

The Western Dorset Economic Growth Strategy is a joint commitment between North Dorset District, West Dorset District, Weymouth and Portland Borough and Dorset County Councils. It pledges to keep economic growth at the forefront of the council's policy development and implementation.

The spokesman added: "Our vision for Dorset is to thrive and prosper. We have committed to supporting this through five key strategic themes - Infrastructure, Homes and Employment sites, Employment and Skills, Business and Sectors, Assets and Policy."

The meeting will be held at South Walks House on Friday, February 16 from 10am until 2pm.
