A costume-making workshop for this year's revamped Dorchester carnival will be held in June.

Families are invited to a free half-term workshop at the Corn Exchange to help prepare for Midsummer Madness.

The team responsible for this year's carnival will be at the Corn Exchange to help with costume-making, wheel-decorating and much more.

The workshop is free to attend and some materials will be supplied, but people can bring their own.

Organisers say that this would be great for teams, groups, clubs and schools that are entering the Midsummer Madness parade this year.

The event will be held on Friday, June 1 from 2pm until 4pm.

As reported in the Echo this year sees the rebirth of Dorchester Carnival - which will be a celebration with a difference.

The day plans to be spectacle of colour, a day of fun-filled craziness, music and laughter, a time to come together to sing, dance and make merry in the summer sunshine.

Organisers want as many people from the community to put their silly hats on and get involved.

The procession will take a different turn this year as it is only a walking procession, no vehicles are allowed but bicycles and mobility scooters and the alike are.

Midsummer Madness will be held on Saturday, June 16.
