Hello readers, we’re happy to be back with our second column and what a busy week it’s been. We have loads to write about so let’s get started.

First, last Saturday we enjoyed a fabulous party to celebrate our latest make-over of Tom Browns Garden in Dorchester. For the past three weeks, we have volunteered to paint their fences and benches, cut the grass, weed the borders, pick up litter and basically give it some much needed love.

The best thing was that many of us Friendship Club members volunteered with the pub locals. We had a great time working together, the atmosphere was upbeat, we strengthened our friendships and we’ve made their garden look beautiful again.

We both love taking part in worthwhile activities like this and it’s really helped us feel valued and part of our community.

Last week we also had our Friendship Club Halloween disco at the New Vic in Weymouth, and what a night! The dance floor was packed with ghosts, zombies and vampires dancing, laughing and generally being very scary.

And if all that wasn’t enough, tonight we head to Panini’s in Dorchester, again with the Friendship Club, for an early Guy Fawkes Soup night and ‘Sausage Tasting Quiz’. Well, if it’s as tasty, and fun, as the ‘Cheese Tasting Quiz’ they did for us last month, we can’t wait.

We did want to write about the Rugby World Cup and being good losers, but we have run out of space.

Catch us next week to hear our thoughts about Remembrance Sunday. In the meantime, have a good week.
