Hi readers, this week we are busy getting ready for our Friendship Club carol service at Dorchester Baptist Church on Sunday.

We and our friends help put together these inclusive services with members of the church. Expect to see puppets, crafts, singing and games.

There is usually a theme and this time it’s Christmas surprises. Our first surprise is introducing our brand new Friendship Club choir. Hear them sing The Twelve Days of Christmas like you have never heard it before!

One of the main aims for the service is to make sure everyone, whatever their needs, can join in. Our main job is to work the puppets, who will sing a song related to the theme. We can’t tell you what it is or they’ll be no surprises left! After this, members of the Friendship Club will perform a play. Crafts are also built into the service to help make it more fun.

We have two rehearsals and I (Adam) have been practicing my puppeteering skills at home with my oven glove! It always makes my arm ache but I don’t mind as it helps my muscles get stronger.

Last but not least is tea, which the volunteers make. It’s a wonderful feast of home-made sandwiches and delicious cakes – plus fruit, jelly and ice cream!

We want to say a really big thank you to all the volunteers who make this happen, especially Peter, Jackie, Harry, Richard, Chris, Mandy and Wendy. Taking part has made us a real part of their community, and we feel they have taken us into their hearts. We are very grateful to them for that.

If you want to come to the Carol Service please call the church on 01305 262045.
