Hi readers,

It’s me (Adam) writing this week and I want to tell you about a scary night in Martinstown.

During one of our editing meetings, William dropped into the conversation that he couldn’t meet up in two weeks time because he was going to be performing in a play. I was really quite surprised as we meet several times a week and had no idea, especially as he’d been rehearsing for the past month!

On further questioning, I discovered William was playing the hound in the Hound of the Baskervilles, performed by the Martinstown players.

I asked William if I could go and he said yes, of course. Laura, who helps us edit these columns, quickly got on the phone and luckily managed to get us tickets for the Friday night show.

And wow, what a performance it was! The play had comedy, dancing, a love story, and the high energy of the detectives trying to solve the mystery murder. I didn’t want it to end.

William was fantastic and played several parts ranging from a table (yes really, and he was an excellent table), a train guard, a yokel and of course the scary hound.

He said it was fun, and the only bad thing was the hound's outfit as it was quite hot and difficult see through the eyes. Luckily it was alright on the night!

The best thing William said was how friendly everyone was to him, and how well he got on with his fellow actors. He felt great to be part of the community and although he doesn’t live in Martinstown, his parents are there, so has strong links with the village.

Overall it was a great night and a great experience for both of us. Well done and thank you to all the Martinstown Players!
