A COFFEE and Storytelling session will take place on Portland to support girls' education and women's transportation in Ghana.

Local author and volunteer Sheila Ryan will tell stories at Cycleccino in Ghana at 11am on Sunday November 27.

The session will support the Hope Bicycle Depot in Ghana.

Sheila has written Volta Voices – women’s life stories from a Ghanaian village clinic.

The book tells the women’s stories in a lively and engaging way.

In Ghana women in the villages trade from basins carried on their heads. This can cause injury and chronic health problems for those who carry heavy loads, daily, over long distances and in extreme heat.

The Hope Bicycle Depot loans bikes to women traders so that they can lighten the load and travel greater distances to trade. In this way, they can earn enough to provide for their daughters’ education and so give hope for their futures.
