Two have-a-go heroes have been praised for their actions in Parliament.

Last month the two men demonstrated an 'extraordinary act of bravado' by intervening in an armed robbery.

The drama unfolded at the Spar shop on High Street, Wool, on Friday, October 7.

Police appealed for witnesses to the incident but a spokesman for the force confirmed this morning that no arrests have been made.

Speaking at Prime Minister's Questions yesterday, MP Richard Drax praised the pair.

Mr Drax said: “How many of us would charge into a darkened store at night knowing that inside were three mask-wearing, crowbar-wielding thugs trying to rob it? My two constituents did just that; as a result of their intervention, the thugs fled, leaving the money, and the staff were hurt less, although one of the gentlemen was himself hurt. “

Mr Drax asked the Prime Minister to join him “in praising their courage and selflessness in carrying out this extraordinary act of bravado.”

Mrs May replied, saying: “I commend the bravery and courage shown by those two individuals...who stepped into that situation to ensure that it was not as bad as it might have been. That is incredible bravery; many members of the public would not have been willing to step forward in that way. Will he pass my best wishes—and the best wishes of the whole House, I am sure—on to those individuals?”

“The Prime Minister’s praise is well deserved,” said Mr Drax. “These gentlemen risked life and limb for others and set a great example to us all.”

The two men involved did not wish to comment, but it is understood they have thanked Mr Drax for his words. The Dorset Echo has agreed a request not to publish their names.
