Two people were rescued from a sinking speedboat.

The Swanage all-weather life boat was sent to help a 14’ speedboat reported as sinking off Old Harry Rocks yesterday, Wednesday, April 26, at around midday, Swanage RNLI say.

Two people were on board the boat, which was taking on water and a spokesman for the service said the people were standing in the water, and had become very cold.

The lifeboat was quickly on the scene, but the two people had already been helped aboard a passing military RIB.

An RNLI Atlantic 85 which was training in the area also attended the incident.

The people who had been aboard the sinking boat were very cold and so were transferred to the warmth of the lifeboat’s wheelhouse.

Once ashore, they were given safety advice by Swanage Coastguard volunteers and given some warm dry clothing.

The boat, which was virtually submerged, was towed back to Swanage and debris from the boat was cleared up.

When it reached the town council slipway the boat was pulled onto the slipway to be recovered later.
