Police have issued a warning to residents after receiving reports of rogue traders.
Purbeck Police said they have had reports of people going door to door asking elderly residents for work for cash in hand jobs in the Northmoor area of Wareham.
They added that elderly members of the community are usually targeted as they are more trusting of people and therefore can be more vulnerable to this sort of incident.
Purbeck Police are asking people to be on the lookout for anything like this in their area and to keep an eye on any vulnerable neighbours they have.
Report any incidents to the police on 101 or 999 if the offenders are still present.
Purbeck Police also said to report any incidents to Trading Standards, as the body is working closely with the police to tackle the issue.
