FOUR talented friends who met while studying in Scotland will be playing Bridport next month.

The Maxwell Quartet will be bringing their “brilliant and exhilarating” show to Bridport Arts Centre, South Street, on Friday, May 5, from 11am to 12noon.

The four young musicians met while they were still students at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2010, and were residency artists for Enterprise Music Scotland 2011 to 2013. During that time, they earned a reputation for delighting audiences during their Scottish concert tours.

The quartet comprises Colin Scobie and George Smith and Elliott Perks on violin and Duncan Strachan on cello.

They have been keeping busy with a packed concert diary including appearances at including Lammermuir Festival, BBC Chamber Music Proms and the SOUND Festival.

Concerts in the West's founder and director Catherine Maddocks said she was “delighted” that Maxwell Quartet were heading to Bridport. She said:

“The quartet is making its mark in the chamber music world in no uncertain terms and I look forward to introducing them to our audiences in the West Country.”
