A MUSICAL adaptation of Jane Austen's Persuasion is coming to west Dorset.

Chamber Opera Tours, a professional not-for-profit opera company, is returning to Lyme Regis after its 2016 sell out shows to again perform its original musical adaptation of Jane Austen’s beloved final novel Persuasion, commemorating the 200th anniversary of her death and its publication.

Ticket proceeds will be donated back to the Marine Theatre for its building renovations.

Persuasion: A Musical Drama tells the story of a woman who has lost at love and gets a second chance. The production will be touring with 40 artists - singers, dancers, and orchestra members - and will be presenting two performances at the Marine Theatre on Wednesday and Thursday, July 26 and 27 at 7.30pm.

With adaptation by Barbara Landis, this fully staged production features a chamber orchestra with Celtic and period instruments, authentic costuming and sets, beautiful projected scenery, and world-champion Irish dancers.

This widely acclaimed stage production features Stage Direction by Coventry native Nick Sandys and Kyle Dougan (University of London), musical direction by Linda Madonia, choreography by Sara Stewart Schumann and projected scenery design by John Boesche.

Written at the height of Jane Austen's literary career, Persuasion is one of the most compelling love stories ever penned. Anne Elliot has rejected a proposal of marriage from the one man she truly loved, Captain Frederick Wentworth. She was persuaded by her godmother that Captain Wentworth was unworthy, but after a separation of nearly a decade, he returns from sea with both rank and fortune. Anne is nearly an old maid and her once rich family faces bankruptcy. Can Anne win him back? Can he forgive her? Can their lost love be rekindled?
