SHROPSHIRE storyteller Amy Douglas brings her subtle wit and gentle humour to the Story Café at Bridport Arts Centre on Friday September 22.

Travelling Together is a tale of the unusual combination of a story-loving teenager and a cantankerous Scots traveller storyteller.

Amy discovered the delights of storytelling at the age of 14. With her soft, strong voice, she breathes life into her reminiscences of meeting Duncan Williamson and beginning a life-changing storytelling apprenticeship.

This included drinking special brew, learning to drive, making pegs and (mostly) doing without sleep.

A founder member of the international storytelling Festival at the Edge and the author of Shropshire Folk Tales, Amy has been studying and practising her art throughout Britain and further field for the past 20 years.

She has delved deep into the folklore of Britain, revelling in tales of the strange and the macabre. “Even when she is gone, a gleam of magic still lingers.”
