Coastguards were called to help a despondent female late last night.

The West Bay Coastguard team was called to an incident at East Beach, West Bay, on Wednesday to reports of a despondent female.

It was contacted by Solent Coastguard NMOC (National Maritime Operations Centre) to the incident shortly after 10pm.

Officers from West Bay, including the team’s station officer, deputy station officer and the team’s rescue vehicle, made their way to East Beach.

Dorset Police and South Western Ambulance Service also responded to the incident, with support provided by Lyme Regis Coastguard team.

On arrival, the West Bay SO liaised with police to devise a search plan and officers were sent to search the area.

The despondent female was found shortly afterwards and taken into the care of the police and ambulance services.

The teams then stood down to return to the station.
