WEYMOUTH Sailing Club will get a new training room thanks to a grant of more than £48,000.
The club is one of hundreds of sports facilities across the country to be awarded share of £17m from Sport England’s Inspired Facilities Fund.
The aim of the fund is to improve grassroots sports and ‘breathe new life in to tired community sports facilities.’
Thanks to the £48,354 award, the sailing club will convert its boat maintenance and storage area in to a training room to use for theory and practical training sessions, meetings, office facilities and social space for under 18s in particular.
The next round of funding is open for applications and more local sports groups across West Dorset are being urged to apply.
