A WEYMOUTH-based audio and lighting engineering firm is in the spotlight as it celebrates a successful cathedral show and joins singer Lee Mead on a national tour.

Seventh Wave Audio, created by David Hart, specialises in providing lighting and audio equipment for theatre productions and has just finished the Jesus Christ Superstar production in Gloucester Cathedral.

Mr Hart and the firm are now gearing up for their next assignment which coincides with the third anniversary of the company, as they work on the nationwide tour of actor and singer Lee Mead.

Mr Mead won the title role in the 2007 West End revival of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat through the BBC show Any Dream Will Do, and has gone on to pursue a music career.

Mr Hart said: “The year kicked off spectacularly for us.

“We provided the audio and lighting equipment and expertise for ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ in Gloucester Cathedral.

“Having to ensure sound and lighting is perfect in a 900-year-old building that echoes is some feat, but together with my team we helped to stage the show and the results were wonderful, with lighting effects that really brought the performance and indeed the cathedral to life.

“It was also the first time that Jesus Christ Superstar has been performed in a cathedral, anywhere in the world, and I was proud to be a part of that.

“Lee Mead’s tour is a fitting way to celebrate our third anniversary, and is just one of the many projects we have planned for the year ahead.”

Mr Hart honed his skills at his ‘stage home’ at the Weymouth Pavilion, where he spent many years working on productions at the venue.

Since his formative years behind the decks, and investing in state-of-the-art equipment, Seventh Wave Audio has gone from strength to strength and has provided the lighting and sound systems for well known stars such as comedian Jimmy Carr, Norman Wisdom and Derren Brown, plus working on the West End production Blood Brothers.

Mr Hart added: “This exposure has led to a flurry of enquiries for lighting and sound for corporate events.

“Large companies want the best and to host an event or launch that is spectacular, requires every detail to be spot on and that includes making sure the lighting and sound is correct.

“Just these elements can make or break an event and leave a lasting impression with guests and potential business partnerships.”
