POP-UP events are to be held across Weymouth in a bid to engage residents in the creation of a ‘masterplan.’

As reported in the Echo, Weymouth and Portland Borough Council announced last month it would be developing a strategy to ensure a bright future for the town.

The ‘vision’ is to create a ‘thriving town centre’ and the authority will be canvassing local opinion to see what the masterplan should include.

Initial events will be held during Thursday and Friday on the Esplanade near to the King’s statute.

There will also be events on August 26 and 27 outside Debenhams in New Bond Street.

Cllr Ray Nowak, briefholder for Economic Regeneration, said: “I would really encourage people to come along, have a chat to our officers and provide your extremely valuable feedback.

“Community involvement is at the heart of the masterplan and we are really keen to hear from everybody.”

It is hoped the strategy will be in place by early 2015.
