IF you could choose anywhere in the country to pitch up for the perfect getaway, where would it be? For one lucky couple the answer is Weymouth.

Steve and Kim Driscoll from Croydon won a brand new caravan worth more than £40,000 after taking part in a competition organised by Haven Holidays and the ITV show Good Morning Britain They could have their caravan anywhere in the UK - and they chose Weymouth Bay Holiday Park. Mr Driscoll said winning the competition was like ‘a dream come true’ for the couple.

Mr Driscoll said: “We have often thought about buying a caravan but never quite managed it so winning is like a dream come true. Now our kids are grown up it’s time for some ‘us time’.

“We love walking the dog and look forward to exploring all that Dorset has to offer. We chose Weymouth as it’s such a beautiful location and it is close enough for us to pop down for the weekend.”

As part of the overall prize, the couple’s connection fees, local authority charges, site fees and bills including electricity and water will be paid for until January 2017. They have also bagged two televisions, a blu-ray DVD player, a 10-inch tablet and all of the caravan’s inventories such as a fridge, microwave, kitchen utensils and bedding.

Paul Delmaine, sales manager at the Haven Holiday Park in Weymouth, said: “We are thrilled to be welcoming the Driscoll family into our community here at Weymouth Bay.

“Being located so close to the heart of Weymouth and the beautiful Dorset beaches we know the family will love owning a caravan with us.”
