THE party is not over for fancy dress enthusiasts after it was confirmed a popular shop in Weymouth is set to be reopened.

Hollywood Fancy Dress has taken over the Fancy Dress Shop on Abbotsbury Road and is to open the store later this year after an extensive refurbishment.

The shop, which was previously owned by Jan O’Brien, was closed at the start of January after enjoying 17 successful years providing the town’s partygoers with costumes and outfits. Mrs O’Brien, 66, first opened the shop to capitalise on the town’s New Year’s Eve tradition of fancy dress, and the shop went from strength to strength until the doors were closed for the final time on January 12.

An exact reopening date has not yet been confirmed by Hollywood Fancy Dress, but the company did confirm that the new store would be recruiting new staff, with one full-time manager and one part-time staff member be-ing sought.

Sam Kerr from Hollywood Fancy Dress shop said: “We don’t have an exact date for an opening yet; we have got a lot of work to do in the shop to get it looking right but we are hoping it will be as soon as possible.

“It’s in the very early stages at the moment, but we really want to get it going and get the shop open.”

Hollywood Fancy Dress also owns three other fancy dress stores in Bournemouth and Southampton.

It will bring with it many types of costumes and accessories as well as an all-year fireworks licence.

Mrs Kerr added: “We are all quite looking forward to it; we have a lot of fun and we know that all of our customers will have fun in our shop.

“We have a massive range of costumes to buy and to hire plus a great range of costume accessories and we also have a licence to sell fireworks all year round.”
