DRIVERS will get car parking, traffic delays and safety messages on the road from Weymouth to Dorchester.

A new sign giving messages will be installed along the A354 next week.

The sign has been commissioned by Dorset County Council.

Scottish and Southern Electricity (SSE) will start laying a power supply to the location of the sign on February 23. Most of the work will happen off the road, but it will impact the cycleway. For safety reasons pedestrians and cyclists will be escorted through the area of works.

Once the power supply is in place work will start on erecting the sign itself.

The council says there will be a need to manage traffic at the narrower sections of the road. This will be done using temporary traffic lights between 9.30am and 3.30pm.

Advisory speed limits will be in place to protect the workforce.

The work will take a total of 10 days to complete.
